I didn't take lots of pictures because I simply enjoy the nature just by looking at it and wandering around the places humming "Subhanallah, what an amazing place.".
I was born in Banda Aceh, a very beautiful yet hot city in most western part of Indonesia. The city is best known for its strict rules regarding Islamic religion. However, living there doesn't sound as scary as people think. Lots of people outside Aceh asked me these kinds of questions.
"Have you ever get beaten because you don't wear Hijab?" or, "How do you live there? Can't you have boy friends?" or, "Do Acehnese get bored because you guys don't have shopping malls, cinema, and shit?" or, "I heard your food contains weed. How does it tastes like?"
I can only laugh and smile hearing those innocent questions. You know, as an Aceh-born person, I love Aceh and I would like to stay there forever. We (Acehnese) don't mind if we don't have shopping malls, cinemas, night clubs, and shit. We obey the so said strict rules because of our faith in God, no hard feelings what so ever. Even though I admit that I go to Medan or Jakarta to shop, hahaha. Regardless of how much I love Aceh, I chose to continue my study somewhere else because I just had the thought that the when a bird knows how to fly, it should leave its nest and build a new one. So I chose to study in Bogor, West Java.
Little I know about Bogor, because I was being "caged" inside of a boarding school. I love my school, though. It was an amazing place to learn (no sarcasm). I especially love my friends and the teachers. Getting inside a boarding school and an organization made me realize that thinking "Adults can 100% be trusted because they know everything and they are selfless." was very foolish. Nothing is perfect. Since then, I hate anything to do with politics very very much. At least I have a very valuable lesson to carry out for the rest of my life.
Bogor was and always beautiful, the city has big stunning trees in the city, the grass color is very green, pollution is not as bad as Jakarta's. Here is the #1 fact people who lived in Bogor must agree with me: In the afternoon, Bogor can get really really hot!
I kind of offended by people's statement saying Bogor is very chill, and composed, and shit. The wheather can get really moody, it can be very hot for one day, and can be very cold in the next day, or both. The lightning and thunderbolt are crazy! One wrong step and you can be a dead, grilled meat.
Well, there was some facts I collected while being a nomad student living in various big and small cities in Indonesia, look forward for another posts soon!
